Hey Rodney, Does overclocking your hardware shorten their lifespan? Thanks ... Posted by: 3DGAMEMAN
Video duration: 68 seconds Global video hits: 17775 Hey Rodney, Does overclocking your hardware shorten their lifespan? Thanks heaps, -Henry- FACT: Many motherboards have automatic overclocking features and some video cards are pre-overclocked. Also with overclocking software and other tools, it's fairly common these days. I've been doing it as long as I can remember and very few components failed as a direct result of overclocking. @chris3d165 A custom water cooling system. Since your asking this question though, go for a Corsair H50 All in one.

@CutOutSock agree 100 percent any1 who disagrees dosent know what they are talking about

whats a good water cooling system to get?
By: OCTeamfr. on 18 Jan 10, 12:32:39
@HybridPineapple yes, it's true...
By: HybridPineapple. on 18 Jan 10, 03:25:12
@OCTeamfr WHAT?!
By: OCTeamfr. on 11 Dec 09, 20:34:36
That's a true fact...and many people already know it, not only you.
By: Dragun92. on 11 Dec 09, 20:27:54
dont give me a science lesson my heads already spinning with the stupid things i already know :( listen my point is its heat destroying ships not voltage if there wasnt any resistivity u cud juice it up as much as u want u shud trust arnold nice night for a walk
By: OCTeamfr. on 11 Dec 09, 09:43:38
Also to say that "Voltage destroy your chip" is for vulgarization purpose even if this is not correct, and I don't like that too.
By: OCTeamfr. on 11 Dec 09, 09:34:23
So this is not totally wrong to say that, as voltage is a parameter that we can change, but we can't change the internal resistivity of the "CPU" (on this basic characteristics). We change them indirectly when we apply some voltage or frequency, but we can't control directly the jool effect. P-U.I and so P=U²/R Thats it.
By: OCTeamfr. on 11 Dec 09, 09:28:14
This apart, under ln2 there's no supraconductor effect on the cpu, caus at -40°C (full) this is not enough. (and the titatnium as you said need 0.40K to reach the supra state) And to resume a bit all of that. Yes the jool effect is the bad thing. And the voltage is part of the equation. Thos this is a SEMANTIC error to say that the voltage destroy (or burn) the CPU. Ask yourself "If I put less voltage, will I get more jool effect ?" ...no.
By: OCTeamfr. on 11 Dec 09, 09:09:19
Caus you were talking about supraconductors ,don't you ?

dont worry it wont bother rodney he wont even notice he'll be too busy admiring himself on his awesome quality webcam what do u mean "yes"??? what "rings" u mean engagement rings why the hell wud anyone run currents through a ring??? what does any of them have to do with overclocking or voltage???

Do you know that in laboratory there's some rings with current running inside since ten years ?
By: OCTeamfr. on 10 Dec 09, 12:16:18
Hope all this comments don't bother Rodney and others ^^
By: OCTeamfr. on 10 Dec 09, 12:08:08
Yes
By: Dragun92. on 10 Dec 09, 11:18:12
its only a matter of time before arnold schwarzenegger aka "T-800 model 101" is made and he has a superconducting chip do u know what dat means??? it means that it doesnt need a cooler it will run forever if given a gud power source i wonder how fast crysis will run on his cpu?
By: Dragun92. on 10 Dec 09, 11:15:12
no i am not kidding u are u disagreeing with me that freezing makes things brittle coz even titanium wud get ownd at that temp thermal shock will not work if something if frozen and knowing a computer cooling LN cooler it will keep cooling so pretty much only something like lightning from the sky will destroy it voltage will not kill it only heat only heat thats the truth thats why superconductors are invincible
By: OCTeamfr. on 10 Dec 09, 11:02:02
not talking about "tiniest vibration" it sometimes true for some SOI. It just about the course you made in your question.
By: OCTeamfr. on 10 Dec 09, 10:06:21
"listen a chip below -250 degrees gets destroyed coz of the tiniest vibration do u know how brittle even titanium wud get at that temp???" Are you kidding me ?
By: Dragun92. on 10 Dec 09, 09:49:20
hey no fair you are completly changing what u were saying a while ago listen a chip below -250 degrees gets destroyed coz of the tiniest vibration do u know how brittle even titanium wud get at that temp??? thermal shock is heat thermal shock will not work if a chip is frozen heat kills it not voltage voltage = BFF heat = satan sadly satan is always behind the BFF so its very bad u will have to be careful thats why too much is never gud
By: OCTeamfr. on 10 Dec 09, 09:26:04
Yes the word "burn" is not very appropriate..my mistake ^^ This is a semantic thread here ^^ But I can tell you and many overclockers can too, that even at -250°C you can destroy a chip. I said destroy and not "burn" ^^ A chip track can be destroy by the joule effect but also by a thermal shock, if it cools too quickly.( I mean into a µs lapstime). So yes if you want, this is also heat issue ...
By: Dragun92. on 10 Dec 09, 09:06:45
no u cant burn something thats frozen dude :P why do u think that??? i know u are agreeing with me in many ways but your also trying to say that something thats frozen can be burned which is very confusing yes and rules of physics says that frozen things cant be burnt without being melted first and it cant melt something if its being cooled the entire time now can it? an instant kill will only occurs when there is an extreme amount of heat joule effect once again heat is the enemy not volts
