I hate the Open Tray error. It showed up one day without any warning, and when I went to Microsoft's home page, nothing there fixed it. I mean, nothing. This video shows how I consistently fix the error on my 360. Additionally, after this is used, consider downloading the games you often play to hard disk to stop putting undue stress on the DVD drive.

Thank you! It worked for me. I also had a weird (in really old font) E63 error. But I turned off the XBox, turned it back on and that's when the 'open tray' error started. I already had 1 RoD and they sent this one back - a refurbished one. Maybe I should just buy the new one with bigger hard drive and the quiet fan. Anyway - THANK YOU for this vid.

Just take the disc out and let it read nothing. then put the disc back in and it works. But if all else fails... you can unplug all the attachments and take out the game. Then drop the xbox on the faceplate. Only drop on carpeted ground and no more then 6 inches. do it a couple of times. what this does is moves the laser into the correct position to read the disc. I am not responsible for damage. but it does work for me.

when I play ( H264 & X264 ) Audio sync are not even with the video. the person talks but the sound comes out 3 seconds later. it played fine earlier but its doing it now and its doing it on all my (H264 & x264) another issue is wmv9 it supports but wont support wmv earlier codec . the Firmware Release 1.01.77 (12/3/09). a home made tweak might be needed to fix these issues

I have my DVDs just backed up to a USB drive in the original DVD folder structure (Video_TS / VOB files) because my pc didn't have the horsepower to convert the files. My other player (Seagate FAT+) plays these folders just like if you'd stuck a dvd in the drive. The WD ust lists a bunch of VOB files. Lame.

Segate freeagent drives = bad power supplies and adapters. Numerous reports of the power supplies (for AC powered models) failing, sometimes within days of purchase. Just google it. Happened to me as well 4 days after I bought it. Its been happening for years and years and yet Segate does nothing NOTHING about it. Everyone always says back up back up, its your responsibility, and all that. What happens when your hard drive that you just bought to back up things on, wont power on anymore?

The way they designed these drives to stand vertically is pretty stupid. If it ever gets bumped over you're screwed. If anybody actually wants these in that enclosure, then I'd at least remove the base (as shown in the vid) so you can lay it horizontally. It's much safer that way.

I'm having similar problems with the 2TB Seagate Freeagent (PN: 9zc2ar-500). The damn thing won't even turn on. Advice for others: Avoid this crap and buy another brand. My bet is that the drive inside is fine; it's just the enclosure/interface that's bad. Still, rather than voiding the warranty as you did I'll just be returning mine and buying a MyBook. Lesson learned: Seagate external drives = crap.

These things have a failure sheet a mile long! A day ago one of my dads drives failed to be recognized. I thought maybe it was the encoder board, so I cracked open a working drive, and swapped the SATS/USB encoder boards. The encoder works fine. For me, this is a drive-based problem. So I've got two working encoders, and only one Seagate Barracuda HDD sitting in front of me. Any ideas on how I could get the data off this "dead" drive for my dad? I can't get anything to work.
