I'm glad to hear eVGA supports overclocking. Made me very happy as i'm pushing my 460 (768mb) to 850 & 875 on the core from stock 675 :P. I think ill buy from them from this day on.

A good way to lower the temperature of your video card ( CPU works too) is to clean out the fan and heat sync. of the card, the same way as shown in NCIX tech tips #13. It got me 7 degrees Celcius drop and my card is only 2 years old!

@GingerGAMER7 it's still under warranty, pre-overclocked(manufacturer overclocked) cards are under warranty because they are sure it's guaranteed to work at that speeds. But in any case you, stock speed or pre overclocked cards, overclock it, warranty is void.

My hd 5850 suddenly loads up to 95 degrees celsius i have checked and cleaned the cooler as good as u can with out taking the cooler of and i have great airflow I dont know what to do. I did contact the store i bought itf from but they said they probably wont change it if i dont get a grapich failure. The idle temp is at 37-40c some one knows what to do ?

@djcrossfade Hi, I don't believe so. Water cooling will only reduce the gpu's temperature, it will not reduce power draw. Unless, that is, the watercooler draws less power than the gpu's fan. But I wouldn't think that happens, and it would be a pretty insignificant difference.

@ownedufoo2 there is a thing that i like to call OH SHIT FACTOR (OSHT), the osht factor is what manufacters use to measure the years of warranty they give. For example a vido card with lifetime warranty may work 500/1200 stock speds but have chips fully capable to work @800/ 1500, this means that the chips are working very far from their natural capacity wich means no deteoration so gives u lifetime warranty, as long u dnt touch the voltages u can go higher and dnt have an impact on durability

Search around youtube and forums for your chipsets and motherboard, you should be able to find a loose guide. Some things you'll need to figure out yourself since its not likely others will have the exact same build Got my i7 920 from 2.8 I believe to 4.0 GHz in a few minutes. Thats a few hundreds dollars worth

Yeah some motherboards have that support. but most of them dont. i have already had to replace my motherboard 4 timesdue to capacitors blowing up. i suppose overclocking on some systems is ok if you have a after market cooler that gives it sufficent cooling. other wise your putting a huge risk to your computer. plus even the slightest over voltage to the cpu and its fried. i blew my P4 2.8 up giving it too much voltage.

OverClocking is extremely bad to do. When you need more voltage to your Cpu it causes your Motherboard and Power unit capacitors to rise in temperature which meaning it wears them out to eventually they blow the cap off the top. Just a word of advice for people looking to overclock.

hehe my laptop is shitty. 1.60 Ghz dual core 2 GB ram intel chipset express family >.< is the satellite toshiba thing but its sooo crappy. It gets super hot even if i dont overclock WITH a fan mount thing underneath. I was thinking about over clocking so i could actually run stuff but im worried about it like melting cause it already is super hot. Any advice (do not tell me to buy a new laptop xD)

intel users have a harder time overclocking. AMD all we do is set the memory to its maximum including timing and all. once we are done we leave the front side bus alone and multiplay high to where we want, set the voltage and we are done. Intel is more complex. not bad, just different

i have a core 2 duo e6750 at 2.6ghz i overclocked it at 3.2ghz whit all voltages control at auto. but at the everest programe it showed that my memory voltage was ta 2.05V is that good or am i going to destroy my ram?

I used cpu multiplier to Overclock to 3.8Ghz from 3.2. Voltages are adjusted automatically to suit but i do have the options to overclock using different methods but i find the multiplier to be the easiest and less hassling. Processor is the Phenom II x4 955BE

I think the voltages are a bit too high, I runned my i5-750@3.8 with 1.28 V stable 24/7 But now i turned on the saving power features that run the sistem a bit unstable, so I lowered to 3.2 ghz with 1.1 V.
